Insanity Strikes on a Wednesday
To say that today’s been an emotional rollercoaster would be the understatement of the century. The ride began the moment I woke up this morning, when I was flooded with news of Colby Rasmus going to the Blue Jays, Ervin Santana’s no-hitter, and Carlos Beltran coming to the Giants. The fun didn’t stop there though. Come gametime, the Giants barely scraped by with a 2-1 victory over the Phillies, which was immediately followed by CSN Bay Area’s report of Pat Burrell’s release and Brandon Belt’s demotion. This news was greeted by a collective fall down the stairs by Giants fans everywhere.
This came on the heels of another CSN report that said the Giants would be shipping out Francisco Peguero and Charlie Culberson for Beltran, which also turned out to be patently false. In terms of journalistic prowess, it’s been a rough day for the crew over at CSN/SF Chronicle Live. I think it’s safe to say that over the course of a single day, a lot of credibility has been lost.
Here’s how my day went as a result of all this:
(alarm goes off, checks phone) Wait the Jays got Rasmus for next to nothing? So we could have…wait, we got Beltran? Wait we’re giving up table scraps too? Wait we’re giving up Zack Wheeler? WHAT’S HAPPENING?
(time goes by, the Giants win, all is calm) What a day. What excitement! What…what?! Pat Burrell’s been released? Brandon Belt is going back to Fresno? WHO’S IN CHARGE HERE, I NEED TO SPEAK TO YOUR (general) MANAGER RIGHT AWAY.
(writes an angry article, prepares to throw self down stairs) Burrell’s not released and Belt’s staying? I…guess I can calm down now. But…Belt…and Burrell…and anger…(slowly rocks self to sleep).
This is all your fault CSN. All your fault. As such, I will be forwarding the bills I accrue for my future heart problems directly to your main office. As a journalist, I ask that next time you check your sources. Now that the dust has settled, I can relax knowing that Beltran is a Giant, and the there’s a slight chance that Brandon Belt is still in the Major Leagues.

Good grief! It’s hard enough to knowing that the Giants are in Philadelphia this week. Thanks for the better news.
